The catch phrase on the sign for Norwich says... 'It's a fine city'. Well... I beg to differ.. it was pretty darn boring, but we had a fun weekend away together anyway, and enjoyed catching up with the small Norwich Assembly. :)

New Years at the Lakes
The lakes district is just beautiful, and I can vouch for its very different beauty in both Spring and Winter now. Between Christmas and New years we headed up there for five days of relaxation. Well.. that was the plan. It ended up being fairly busy, but it was all fun. Each day consisted of a sleep in, late breakfast, and then a drive through the amazing countryside to a different location each time, for a walk in the absolutely freeeeezing temperatures, but always finished with de-frosting time at a local restaurant or cafe for a hot tasty meal, or coffee and a cake... perfect!
We met up with some friends of the Pollocks, Rick and Ruth and their gorgeous son Xavi. Maddie and Xavi were like long lost pals.. they played beautifully and loved every minute of each others company. On new years eve they stayed up late and put on a 'dance concert' in Xavi's room for the adults. Was hilarious!
New years eve was very quiet and simple, stayed up until midnight and watched the fireworks go off around the bay, from the Rick and Ruth's balcony.

Christmas Day
I know I know, its a long long time ago now, so its about time I posted a few pics of Christmas day. Far out it does sure feel like a long time ago, now that we are all settled back into the work, school routine again. The only thing that cheers me up about the holidays being over is that it means that we are moving through the winter and heading to warmer days! (very over this cold and dark weather!)
Christmas day was good fun. Maddie had a great time exploring all her presents from Santa, and then we had fun getting our lamb ready, and matt made gravy.. Jamie Oliver style. A rarity to see him in the kitchen!
Everyone came over for lunch, it was all very relaxed.... we ate, and ate, and then ate some more, opened some presents, went for a walk, and then.. ate some more. Good times!
The photos below were taken on Maddie's new camera (from Nanny and Poppy for Christmas.. and its PINK!) which we had never used before, and they were pretty much all taken by her, hence the amazing quality! I can't seem to find my memory card for my camera, but Chrissy day shots from my camera can be seen at the link below. My photos are really so pathetic and lame, so my aim is to really try harder this year to produce something with a little more quality.
